Just bought a TCI clip, so I'm undecided for sure after reading this post. I was going to go 383 or a 454, I just love those massive valve covers when the hood is open.

Re: BBC vs. SBC

I would. I am doing a conversion from l6 to 468. I beefed up the coil springs and shocks. It would imo handle better and not squat to the ground.

Welcome to the site, and yes for both.

Here's some info on BB parts that may help too.

I just went through this decision. I bought a 74 with no engine. It came with small block headers, and I wanted to throw something together quickly/cheaply and get her on the road. So, I bought a used 350 and put it in.
The rest of the story, the headers were for a gen 4 car! Sooo, with my used 350 hanging from the chain waiting to go in, I bought the correct headers, and put the 350 in.
If I were to do it over, I would love a BB, but ya know this small block fits like a glove (AC car), so maybe not a BB for this car/this mission. Maybe a 383/406, something similar. I read with great interest the post about 500hp on $2000.
Another car, another time, definitely a BBC!

407 Small block. Personally I think these cars are too small for a big block. I think the vettes never should have had big blocks.

Isn't Horse Power TV dropping an LS in RX7?

Good idea!

My 70 came with a 350, but I have built up a 434 stroker with MSD Atomic EFI to put in it when I finish repairing the floor.

Should perk it up a bit.

I do have a 454 block all machined and ready to build that I had bought originally, but I decided to keep it light.

Stroke the 454 and put aluminum heads on it!

Yep saw the episode. Small light weight car. Lots of handling parts available. They said for some reason the engine bay is huge tons of room. Rear axle stock handles 500hp. Most of the parts like radiator engine swap stuff and driveshaft came from http://www.grannysspeedshop.com/

I wish I could start one.
