2-1 Rear main seal conversion question??

I have seen the kits for converting a 1 piece rear main into a 2 piece, but can this also work in the reverse? Is it possible to run a 1 piece seal crank in a 2 piece block? It's a budget thing or i wouldnt ever consider a retrofitting like this. Thanks
