Lifter Noise

I have adjusted my hydraulic lifters twice now with the motor running...(I made a special valve cover) for this so no oil gets out. Anyway after adjusting I still get a bit of lifter noise at around 1500-2000rpm. Is this normal for hydraulics? I have Edelbrock performer heads with roller rockers.

Not normal. Sure it isnt exhaust noise, maybe a leaking header?

Rockers?

Are they full rollers or just roller tip? I had a set of Comp roller tips that I swapped out for stamped steal rockers because they were noisy. It allways sounded like they were loose.

Hello Luke. Now that makes sense. I have roller tips. Never would have thought of that...

I must have adjusted them about five times, thought I had an exhaust leak for a while, and then I re-read an old post from PW about how the roller tip does virtually nothing except add weight over the tip of the valve so I ordered a set of stamped steel rockers, set them once and haven't had an issue yet.

Happy to help,
Luke

Do full roller rockers have this same noise problem?

Can't vouch for it myself, but a buddy that has AFRs and full rollers on a F**d stroked 351 has one noisy set you can hear the clear as day through the aluminum valve covers. He has run 5.0s in the past and tells me the noise is normal...
