Is this 402 worth $700?

I have a chance to buy a 1972 402 engine that smokes, they say a little all the time. Its complete with manifolds. BUT, it's priced at $700.

Is it worth that????

Thanks,
Mike

Big Block

Ok, Here's my 2 cents worth 1972 wasn't the best year but I guess it's was better then 73 & up What are you going to do with it put it in & drive it like it is .Or are you going to rebuild it . Now you have to think what would all the parts cost & where can you find them . I say if you want a 402 BUY IT

I sold a 402 block, heads, and stock truck intake that was in pieces for 600 last year. Everything needed to be redone.

doesnt sound like much of a deal to me. but I'm out of touch with today's ridiculous prices for anything remotely musclecar related.

I'd have to agree with LarryMc. Its a running BBC, if its a 402 you want then go for it. Remember its only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Don't know what your plans are for it but it's worth that if you're not comfortable at $700 try to grab it for $500 and that would be a real good deal.

A few weeks ago there was an ad in the paper for a running 396 for $400. i called but it was already gone. so that was a good deal.

I'd point out to the seller that the 402 smokes and offer them $500 like jes163 said.
