Question Bucket or bench seats ??

My 71 Nova has what seems to measure 13.5" Wide x 14" Deep bolt holes for existing black (pleather) bucket seats..Think they came out of a camaro before "69" cause they dont have headrests..anyways I want to change to something safer with headrests like 1971 had.. or retrofits that look good and are safer..any suggestions?? Tryed craigslist..Some sellers want $400-600 for 70's seats with no covering left!
Also what is compadable bolt patternwise..chevelles etc.??
Can i go to a bench with the 4 speed?? thanks in advance!!

I have a nice bench in my 69 I'm wanting to move. If you wanna stay with buckets try the procars from opg. I think they are 500 shipped.

4 speed will work with bench seat with correct shifter arm. But bench will not bolt in the bucket bolt holes. Chevelle bucket seats will be close, but they have different tracks than novas.

Got a bench seat and a 4 speed in mine. Nothing is cooler than a bench seat and a 4 speed in my opinion.

My 72 nova ss came with bench 4 speed.. I almost converted to bucket.. but nah

let me give better advice then what I and other gave..for safety racing seats and harness..Or you can do a lil modifying to use late 70's or early to mid 80's model camaro buckets;with shoulder lap belts...

yeah

Id love to find a pair of factory or factory like replacement buckets that came with the 71's..
Driving my 07 monte ss it has all the latest safety stuff even side air bags
so stepping back in time to (headrest-less) seats and only a lap belt doesnt really appeal to me as I value my spine the way it is

For the factory buckets the floor should look this this. Well minus the big rusty holes.

These are the brackets that were welded to the floor from the factory for the seats to be level. I think Ground up repops these but they are not exact. The design also changed in 72 and continued to 74. The ones pictured were from a 73.

If you found nova seats with the tracks for $400 buy em. If you don't want them you can double your money or more. They are RARE!

The correct holes for the bench will/should be in the floor already.

Bench is where it's at!

Has anyone used a T56 with a bench yet? I'm going to go T56 soon and I'm torn whether to get rid of my bench or not...

Bench is cool as hell, but if I go buckets I can retrofit a nice center console too

Anywhere you want, because they all end up on the floor anyway!

Soo..

Somebody was saying above that 80's camaro or firebird seats fit/look good?
Any other models work,montes etc?

I just pulled my mid 60's looking camaro bucket driver seat..2 back bolts didnt even hit the either cross member (but extra large washer) were at least used..and toilet bolts

So im relying on the floorboard strength for my lap belt too
Did notice a bunch of holes ..some bigger than others..some look factory ..others looked drilled..must have been a bench cause it was originally a 307 (guess) turbo hydro 3 speed with coloum shifter..

Noticed shoulder harness holes covered by heasdliner..I know what the 70's original shoulder belt with headliner clips looked like..wonder if that can be reinstalled if I pull back the headliner(new)even though they are a PITA

So im assuming any buckets with bolt holes through the crossmembers would be safer than what i got?
Just a matter of finding them Another day at the beach
