72 nova weight

Anyone have an idea what my nova car will weigh ? it has fiberglass pro front end, fiberglass hood and doors. Steel deck lid, fiberglass rear bumber. lightweight rack and pinion, front dis, glass front and back but lexan in the side. disk brakes , manual brakes no power, backhalfed 4 link with a dana 60 32x16 slicks, weld draglites, 25x 4" front runners on draglites. no back seat, alum floor behind drivers seat over backhalf, 2 poly raing seats. 14 point cage with door sills and x bars, dash bar and xbracing in rear hoop supports. BBC Dart block, alum heads and intake. power glide tranny 9" convertor. ALum radiator and elect fan. factory floor board and firewall, factory dash but mostly gutted. I was thiinking around 3100, needs to be less than 3200. I plan to run 8.90 iindex class.

Really it is one of those things that you will have take your car and have it weighed to get a true number. Just guessing I would say you are around 2900 to 3200 range but again it is a guess.

Depending on the materials used to build the cage and do the back half, factory disc brakes and control arms or aftermerket and how big the motor is I bet you're going to be pushing 3200 unless you built it to be light. I added 200 lbs to my car going from a stock block 468 to a good 565 motor with a heavier trans case and internals and bigger converter so stuff wouldn't break.

It appears that the heaviest Nova in 72 was 3,199 lbs. You could do a good estimate of how much you have eliminated/added.

However, a truck stop weigh station would be a better option. You can get front/rear/total weights.

From Novaresources.com:
MODEL VEHICLE TYPE SHIPPING WEIGHT CURB WEIGHT
Code Base Engine Description Front Rear Total Front Rear Total
11327 250 L6 2-Door Coupe 1668 1313 2949 1620 1412 3032
11427 307 V8 2-Door Coupe 1748 1335 3083 1732 1434 3166
11369 250 L6 4-Door Sedan 1639 1343 2982 1623 1442 3065
11469 307 V8 4-Door Sedan 1750 1366 3116 1734 1465 3199

Should be a fun class. Dave

asking for opinions

kinda of hard to weigh something thats not together, just trying to figure out how much I will have to slow it down, via restirctor plate to run 8.90 index class. I will have the actual weigth in 2-3 weeks, But im guessing our estimate is within 100-200 lbs. 69 chevy thanks for your input.

72, we have a '68 much like yours that ALSO runs in 8.90 index in Canada.

Now specs are. Steel roof and quarters, rest is "all 'glass". OEM glass windshield rest lexan. 2x3 chassis car front to back. A arms up front, alum rad, alum int. plastic buckets, alum firewall/floor, alum dash. short deck BB merlin block alum heads, T400 trans, disc brakes up front, drum rear. 4 link Dana 60.

So as you see were much like yours. Pump gas it DID run 9.10 on motor, and video is a little faster. BUT WE COME IN JUST OVER 3200LBS. Driver is like 270lbs.
