I need some of the originality experts knowledge here - any information I can get regarding the Nova SS in 64 - I know it was a later in the year option, coupes ONLY? Was it a trim package available with both the 6 and V8, or was it V8 only? I know what the exterior trim and emblems look like, but how different was the interior - I know it had buckets, but was the console an option or standard? Were the door panels completely different as well? Last but not least, what were the interior/exterior colors that were available on an SS in 1964? Thanks to anyone that can help me here!

1. Hardtop coupe only
2. Both 6 cyl & V8
3. Console only in SS cars., SS emblem on glovebox door., gauge package., door panels same as 'Nova 400'........
4. Can't help with the colors..... Maybe Bob will chime in..........
That is a cool site, but unfortunately it does not specify the colors available for an SS in 1964 - I think the SS cars may have only been available in black and red or maybe a few other (limited) colors, and the interior color choices may have also been limited, but I am not sure - anyone know the colors you could get on a '64 SS? Thanks!
All 1964 Chevy II colors were available on the SS, except Goldwood Yellow which was introduced mid year. It was an SS color only.
The 1964 SS was a stand alone model (0447), not an option package.
All 1964 SS cars had bucket seats, but those with a 3 speed on the column or 4 speed on the floor did not have a console. Only Powerglide automatics had a console.

Another interesting item about the SS package were chrome items for the engine.
My 230 CID six had the following chrome items:
air cleaner lid,
valve cover
side covers
vacuum line to distributor
fuel line to carb
The engine was rated at 155 hp but I could never find any differences from the 140hp version.
Paul
No offense., but that engine option was not restricted to SS cars., however it was available in 1964 only to Nova & Chevelle......
The higher HP rating was derived from a different cam in that 230 cid engine.........
Chrome side covers were not part of the factory chrome package for that engine., however it did also include chrome engine & transmission dipsticks, and a chrome breather......
My 64 SS had a 194 6cyl. with no chrome on the engine.
Tim
It's always been my understanding that the dressup kit was only on the 1964 230CID six cylinder. However, you see these chrome pieces on 63 and 64 194CID engines all the time (my 63 SS convert. had it) leading me to wonder if it was also available as an over the counter dealer kit.
