In Dash Tach

I would like to put a small tachometer where the clock is supposed be in the instrument cluster of my 68. Has anyone done this? Does anyone make a tach for that purpose?

Wayne at NNN had them on his site, he would probably be happy to answer any questions, he's great to deal with.

Here's the link http://nnnova.com/product_info.php?c...oducts_id=2743
I have the factory one in my car.

I made my own cluster using the original parts. I took the entire back piece of that cluster out, and cut a piece of aluminum out matching that exact size. From there I cut out my holes, and put some carbon fiber tape over the metal, then put in my own gauges. Afterwards I matched up all the wires, and everything works great. I still even have the clear glass in the front of it. It came out pretty good. I don't have a tach in there but I do have four Autometer gauges in it with one of my old Nova emblems mounted. So you should be able to do it. Hope this helps.

Do you have to be on photobucket in order to add a pic on here, because I am trying to add this one pic from my facebook and it's just not working. I wish we could just cut and paste.

Just learning

If you look at the small print.. lol Go to the "mark" beside the paper clip. Open it up, and there is a spot where you can upload "from your computer".. press upload,(after selecting photo) and it opens in a another box, and you can go back to paper clip and attach!! It attaches a small photo, but if anyone clicks on it , it gets bigger!!.. I have photos in photobucket, but do not grasp the URL stuff CH

In-dash tach conversion from Shiftworks. Mounts where the clock delete was:

I'm really happy with how it fit (purely a bolt-in), and the tach works great.

I just noticed that yours is from Shiftworks, different than Waynes? I will look it up... does it plug into the one(plug) shown with 4 wires? power-ground-coil-light? thanks

3 wires to hook up the Shiftworks tach: signal (coil), ground, switched ignition. Everything routes through a shotgun shell "brain", which then plugs into the connector on the gauge. I mounted mine on the steering column support.

Cuss, swear, and use a pry bar.

Nah, it's not too bad compared to modern cars. A word of advice: drop the steering column to be able to get the cluster out and be gentle with it - we're talking about 40 year old plastic here. If it doesn't budge, its still connected to something!
