How do you remove the ignition switch on a 63

Actualy The ignition switch is on a 62 nova ,That i was stripping ,But could not figure how to get the switch off the dash .
I know the bezel unscrews ,But wont go past the ears of the switch .
I belive you put a pin type device in the little hole on the face of the switch and it would come apart, Just can not seem to be able to figure it out .
any help Would be great .
Thanks ,
Mike

use a paper clip to put in the little hole. Theres a spring loaded button of sorts, you'll feel it. Then the lock cylinder will come out, then you unscrew the ignition bezel. It's easiest to un screw with the proper tool, Classic & others sell it. Good luck.

you need the key, and it needs to be turned to the accessory position.

what he said...

insert the key, turn to acc. insert paper clip, pull on key.. key and tumbler will come straight out...

BUT you HAVE to have the KEY.. else... get a cut off wheel, die gringer, carbide burrs, drill, beer, playboy for a break, a couple of replacement bits for the ones you break... and have at the lock face.....

does the key turn the lock? if so your in good shape..... Now I dont remember.. that far back... try each position but lock... I would bet its the on position... when you find the right position you will feel spring pressure when you insert the paper clip.... Inset the paper clip and slowly turn the key from the lock position to the point where you feel the paper clip give...

when you feel the spring.. you have the correct position... now its time to start your journey....

63s only had the lock mechanism. Once you're past that you don't need a key to start the car. I very rarely use my key at all but since it does fit in the assembly it's a good place to keep it until I get to a show and actually need the key to open the trunk.
