Electric Fuel Pump

Can you put an electrical fuel pump in the tank and still have an mechanical inline with the fuel system? Im not much on mechanical fuel pumps but when one fails can you just cut inline an electric one to help push the fuel to it? Or do you need to remove the rod so you wont create pressure and wipe the cam out?

Several applications use a lift pump at the tank in fuel injected setups. Not sure you logic holds though. If the lift pump fails, you won't get gas to the mechanical pump. You've just introduced two failure points instead of one.

Ditto.....

Mechanical pumps tend to last far longer than electric... IMO... plus a screw driver and a simple 3/8" drive socket set and your back on the road.. a "GET ME HOME" pump can be acquired at just about any local auto parts store
