What GM rear end looks like a Ford 9"? I saw one on a beat up, all stock 62 convertible. Looked a lot like a Ford 9". Solid on the back, with 10 bolts around the removable center section facing the driveshaft.

I didn't see this on the nova resource site. Anyone know what it is?

Back in the early '80s I bought a rusty '65 4-door with a six cylinder.

I parted it out and after taking everything I wanted, was going to scrap the rest when a guy I knew came by and asked me if he could have the rear out of it. I said "sure, if you take the whole car away".

He claimed those rears were significantly-stronger than a conventional 10-bolt and he put it under a drag car.

I never did find out how it held-up or how long it lasted but they look like they would be stronger. Back in the early 60s, everyone wanted the 55-57 Chevy and the Olds rears for the same reason - they had the removable 3rd member and were supposedly stronger.

The real American Graffiti coupe has a '57 Chevy rear underneath.
