so is it possible to figure out which gear set i need in the th350 by using the specs of the car? or do i need to pull it apart and go off of what is in the trans?
Back when the parts departments had actual catalogs, you could go by the gear ratio and tire size to determine which combo you needed. I was trying to find a set to work with 4.56's and 275/60/15's which made it kinda tough. I think at one time I owned most of the combos. Only some drive gears work with some driven gears--I found out the hard way after eating up several!
I found one combo that was just about perfect...for a few miles until it chewed up one of the gears. Luckily one is much softer than the other so there is a sacrificial piece.
