Ridetech Coilovers in a TCI front Clip - Need Assistance
I recently purchased a 67Nova that has an older version (2010 era) TCI front Clip with RideTech Adjustable coilovers. I need some help!!!
The mounting bracket for the coilover is on the front clip is 1 inch wide, top and bottom. The Coilover has a spherical bearing rod end with a one inch wide mounting bracket. Its held in place by a 5/8 inch mounting bolt.
However, the coilover rotates, due to the spherical bearing, and as such the rod end hits the mounting bracket. The noise is pretty awful particularly on bumpy roads, changing from forward to reverse etc.
I spoke with TCI and they told me the bearings were worn. I ordered new spherical bearings, but that is not the issue. The bearings are operating just as they should be.
I also spoke to RideTech, and they are shipping me a metal spacer.
In the mean time I've been trying to find threads on this site with additional info. From everything I read, the spherical bearing needs to move to prevent binding.
From some of the pictures I've been able to see on this site it appears there should be some type of a bushing to prevent the rod end from itting the bracket, but still allows the bearing to move??
I've attached a couple of pics. One that shows my coilover mounted, and as can be seen the contact it makes with the mounting bracket.
The other with it unmounted so to show there is no type of bushing, just a spherical bearing allowing metal on metal contact between the rod end and the mounting bracket.
Would enjoy some feedback.
