Steve's Nova Site is an automotive enthusiast website dedicated to the 1962 - 1979 Chevrolet Nova, Chevy II and Acadian automobiles. We work together to preserve, restore, drive, show, race and provide fellowship for these classic cars. This is one of the best places to find information about parts, rebuilding, restoration and racing. This website is not affiliated with GM, General Motors or Chevrolet in any capacity.
I'll post what we find, but with more than one change taking place, it may not be valid.
I know what the car HAS run in the past, but the new converter could make more change than the intake...or not! And if I can get it to hook consistently will be another variable. If I get the car working well, I'll swap manifolds and see what happens. I wanted to compare different AFR manifold tops, but since I usually run a Super Victor, we are only running the TXR top.

Got rained out last Thursday, will try again this coming Thursday.
Not too happy with how the new converter feels--it was supposed to be 4500, but since it wasn't built for my combo...it goes 6000 on the transbrake, just like my old one. They are both Munsinger pieces that will end up going to Chris at Continental for any service needed.

Way too much downtime at the track--crashes, oildowns, etc.
First pass started to hook but unloaded-ran 6.64/104; next pass in other lane it spun hard at the hit. In the shutdown it started making a terrible screeching sound like a dry bearing...the plastic intake manifold in pulling vacuum someplace..I put my hand over the carb to see if it would die and it stopped the screech. Old plugs and out of the box carb will be addressed for next outing.
New converter is way too loose, so that may be changed as well.

Tonight cancelled due to rain, but I'm putting it back on slicks for consistency during testing...try again next week. I have another converter to try with the radials, but it's a tight 3500 RPM TCI nitrous piece that may calm it down TOO much.
We'll see.

Did you locate the vac leak on the intake?
I'm very curious abot that intake.
