It would be great if the guys would restore the Canadian cars with the little things that were unique. The firewall and trunk would have been body colour on this car.
Is the face of the ash tray bare or just painted a different colour?
Cool car, regardless.

I believe this car is one that the owner, for whatever reason, did not want in the Canadian L79 Registry, but the GM Canada documentation proves it's the real deal. The car needs some work. The steering wheel is badly cracked and as Carl pointed out, it's been restored incorrectly with a black firewall and spatter painted trunk. The seller makes reference to some work on the underside, but there are no pictures. It appears the vertical grill bars have been blacked out, which is interesting because mine was like that and it appeared to be factory. All in all, a pretty nice car that could be top notch at the right price and with some work.

Great photo angles of this car. It did not look that great when I saw it !
I did a close inspection of this car when it was in Goderich ON last Sept. Basically it needs a complete restoration. Paint, chrome, interior. Back then it had the wrong carburator, distributor, and alternator. The block has been decked and there are no readable numbers left on the pad. The seller here does not state that it is a numbers matching engine. The crank is missing the finned balancer.
However the body seems rust free and I could not find evidence of any bondo.
Despite all of this it is a very nice REAL L79 car. They are hard to find.

The paint color is, however, disappointing. Whoever mixed the paint put in either too much silver and/or not enough blue. You can see the original color peeking through a spot where the new paint flaked off beside the VIN plate.
I think this one could be driven and enjoyed just the way it is, though. Or - if you were looking for a good candidate for a complete restoration, this would be an excellent start. You certainly wouldn't have to worry about coming up with documentation or a pile of hard-to-find parts!
This 'very original' interior somehow lost it's rear seat emblems and door stripe medallions and the holes healed themselves. Also, the hood doesn't fit properly over the grill. There's a gap here on all 66s, but this one is bigger than usual. The paint almost looks like Mist Blue Metallic in a base/clear. I don't know why you wouldn't correctly repaint a documented Marina Blue car.

Did all L79 have that little by-pass hose that runs from the intake to the waterpump
Bob,
I had been curious how many L79 cars were built with 3-speeds. Since this was was reported by George as 1 of 169 M20's, that would leave only 26 Canadian L79's built with a 3-speed on the column. I like this car, but hard to tell (because it is not listed) how many original parts are still there.
All L79s had the bypass hose, and the water pump has the 1/2" NPT thread that are a bit hard to find and expensive, as the corvette guys hord them. Not a bad car but needs some work, and the key missing parts are expensive.
I have a 3245 carb for them depending on the date code they need, and a complete jack set. Thinking about calling the dealer to see if they are interested.

Thanks for the input. I have a water pump with that 1/2 NPT in my garage I guess I should hang on to it.
That looks like the correct bracket for a L79, maybe positioned wrong. Mine have a "C" punched on them. I noticed that the gas line looks way too far over to the driver side to be the correct carb inlet.
