I have turn downs after the mufflers before the axle. The drone sucks especially at idle. It's tough to have a conversation while driving around town. But I do love how it sounds cracked open between 4k and 6k rpms! I'm running Doug's tri-y headers, universal x pipe at 2.5" and dynomax super turbo mufflers. No hassles from cops here in socal yet... But I have sacred some soccer Mom's with the 4th to 2nd gear downshift to overtake slower traffic!lol. Mind will be all the way out to the bumper soon. Also if your running some overlap in your cam you'll probably have to start getting used to watery eyes from an over rich idle while sitting in traffic...

How do you like Doug's tri-y headers? I'm thinking about these for my 63 when I install the 327. Do you have a stock front end? If so how did these headers fit? Any problems?
I've got mine out before the rear wheels. I love it.
Is this setup too loud? I'm getting my exhaust redone next week, and wanted to do headers to X pipe, mufflers, and to have the exhaust exit like yours.
IMHO folks should have to post a picture to vote on this, scrolling through pages of opinions without pics was lame.
heres mine I like the look but it does blow the dust up badly in dry dirt lots and driveways.
And who ever decided that straight out the back was redneck should consider buying a subaroo or a prius.
Also the slight jet effect of straight out the back might improve speed, at least in the imagination.
