I don't know if this is an SNS members car or not, but I wonder if it's a real L79. The description says it has a 350HP/327 L79 engine. It does not describe the car overall as an L79. Hmmm!

I noticed that, too... but the thing that really bothered me was the brevity of the description. When I see that, I always wonder if the owner is sick (or worse) and the family is selling the car.

The car looks pretty good to me. I took some time looking at it and could find only 5 problems - and all of them could be the fault of the 'restoration'.

You have a good eye, Dave. I could only find 3 things that weren't right. Did you notice the large round grommet on the firewall behind the air cleaner? It appears this was originally an a/c car.

I did notice the large grommet......

now,......wasnt the larger grommet only used on first gens?

i never gave much thought but i have noticed that the grommet became smaller sometime during the 65 year........

lets do research on this............can anybody verify this?

There's only one L79 with a/c in my picture album. There are 2 views of the grommet, neither of which are clear/large enough to reproduce here. The grommet appears to be same as the one on my '63, but it could be slightly smaller. Notice on the Mecum car that the grommet is creased where it comes up against the heater bulge on the firewall, like maybe it's too big. My album pictures aren't clear enough to show if the grommet is flat against the firewall or not. I also have a '65 a/c pic that appears to have the same size grommet as my '63.

I am no expert on the L-79 but if were going to restore one and then try to
sell it you would really get as much info as possible some type of paper work
from previous owners etc. if the car had all the correct parts and piece's
you would not think these cars would change hands to many times!!
I have seen just a couple of these cars that were spot on and had document
-ation. kind of crazy if you were looking buy an L-79 I sure would not buy
one at cheesy auction or online!! lots of smoke and mirrors

Still like to have this car......I've still got my 2 "ticket" pictures of this car when NNN gave this car away in '95.
