Greg,

That's awesome, congrats! I bet you were happy when you read those numbers on your timeslip!

I'm sure with a little tuning you can get into the 12.50's. Your 60 ft times are really good compared to mine. I really need to get a better converter for my car one day so I can launch harder.

I'm hoping to get out to the track one last time this fall in the cooler air and hope to turn 12.50's or 12.40's. I think with cooler air and maybe adjusting the timing a tad I can drop .1 or .2 off my ET.

What do you usually shift at? What converter are you running in your car again? I apologize if you already answered this somewhere before.

Post up some pics of your timeslip! I always put mine in a photo album right away along with all the photos my dad or buddies took of my car at the track that day. Haha!

Carl I was shifting at 6000rpm
I have a Coan 4500 converter i had ordered for the combination in the car.

I will post a pic of the slip when i get home. Best part is the reaction time!! I was running a 1/8th mile bracket class all day......at the end of the day did 2 1/4 passes

reaction time on the 12.76 run was a +.0001

my best 1/8th mile run of the day was a 8.09 so if i would have gotten to run that one all out would have been close to a 12.69. But either way i am happy its finally moving in the right direction.

Greg, 6000 RPM is where I shift at as well. I think I could push it a little higher, but 6000 RPM is good enough for me.

Thats a high stall, probably puts you right in the torqueband where you want to be so you can launch hard out of the hole. When I called around I was getting recommendations of 3200-3800 RPM for stall speed in a 10" converter. Right now I'm just running a 2000-2200 stall speed converter, definitely not enough to get out of the hole fast. I think I have a few tenths or so I could free up there one day whenever I replace that.

Thats a good reaction time. I had a few good ones on my last passes back in July, but none that good!

Mid 12's is definitely moving! Glad your ET's are dropping, its always fun getting a better ET after doing a few things to the car and testing it out.

Are you planning to head to the track anymore this year or no? I forgot what area you're in. Here in Michigan you have through the end of October and then the weather starts to suck and the track closes until April. Then all I can do is watch videos of my passes all winter, haha!

I am in Ontario Canada so we have the exact same weather as you across the bridge in Michigan haha. I live 1 hour from Port Huron Michigan or 2 hours from Detroit.

I am planning on going a couple times in October just for the cooler air to see how things go!!

I also have 4.11 gearing in the rear end that helps it get off the line too. I am launching it around 3000 I tried 3500 and it liked it lower better

Greg, gotcha, so your track will be wrapping things up soon as well. I like the change of seasons but I hate how long winters are.

What track do you go to over in Canada? I race at Milan here in Michigan. Too bad Detroit Dragway still isn't open, that would have been about 10-15 minutes from my house.

If I didnt drive my car as much on the street I'd probably give 4.10 gears a shot myself. But the 3.73 gears and 27" tires are a good compromise.

Do you run pump gas or do you add/mix any race gas in?

my motor is just a 355 with flat tops and 64cc camel hump heads, i run 91 pump fuel.

my slicks are 28" but my Drag Radials are 27" as they are a 255/60/15

I usually race at Grand Bend Motorplex. But they are done for the year.

This past weekend i went to St. Thomas Dragway. Or if i want a 2.5 hour tow i have Toronto Motorsportspark. and i guess Milan is the same distance as Toronto just have never made it over.

Maybe next year

Just to update my BEST 1/4 of the year was a 12.76@104.48mph 1.74 60' with 8.13@85mph 1/8th mile

a few weeks later went to a 1/8 mile race and finished or got closer to perfect tune

1/8th Mile 8.01@87mph! so 12.50s...........next year i may open up the exhaust for a weekend see if i can get some 12.2ish out of it.

I was happy though just glad to get most of the issues fixed!!

Debating taking out the 4.11 for 3.73 and going to a 27" hoosier quick time pro from my 28" slick

Greg, have you done anything to your car over the winter? Mine's just been sitting the garage waiting for spring haha!

I've debated throwing in a 4.10 gear instead of my current 3.73 gear but I do a lot of cruising around on the street so I'm probably just going to stay with the 3.73.

What RPM's are you turning when you pass through the traps?

I'm gonna order up a new converter here really soon so its ready by spring. I need to get rid of that old 11" converter I've been running for years, it sucks for my current setup.

I am getting rid of the 4:11 and going to a 3.73 but on the track i am also dropping from a 28" tire to a 27" to help keep it the same.

I shift at 6000rpm and go through the traps at 5700.

I am doing NOTHING to the motor or tranny other than change the fluid. just change gear.

I will still try with my 28x9 hoosier slicks but i also ordered 27x10.5 Hoosier quick time pros. ALOT of people said i will pick up with dropping the gear. I am doing this for streetability it will lower my RPM by 700 at cruising speed

Cool man, the 3.73 should definitely help out with cruising around town. Hopefully you'll drop a little time at the track too.

I'm just anxious for this winter to be over with so the nice weather will finally come back around!
