Danube Blue 1966 Nova SS L79

I am the original owner of a 1966 Nova SS L79. In Sept. 2012 I repurchased the car from a friend that bought from me in 1978. The Nova was originally Danube Blue and I'm wondering if anyone has seen a L79 this color? Thanks.

In Canada, Danube Blue was called Royal Mist Metallic. Frank Burns (Frank's L79) had a Canadian built L79 SS in that color. It was a totally original car with complete history from day one. It was stolen and chopped about 10 years ago.

My '66 L79 (see link in signature) was originally Danube Blue. I changed the color to Tropic Turquoise shortly after I bought the car in 1972. I've since decided that if I restore the car to 'stock' as I plan to do eventually, I'm going to take it back to the original color.

And no, I didn't take any photos of it 'before' the repaint...

Do you have photos of your car? All the members here LOVE photos!!!

There's gentleman from SC (I believe) that has one. He was showing it at the Nova Nationals 2 years ago in Gettysburg. It is an exquisite looking 2 nd genner.

There are no GM records of cars by color, so we'll never know how many L79s were Danube Blue. Chateau Slate is also very rare, because the color was discontinued before the 1966 production year ended. Maybe the rarest color of them all would be an L79 in Cameo Biege. Anybody ever come across one?

Also rare are the 1966 Canada only colors of Blue Charcoal Metallic (B), Cypress Green Metallic (J) and Plum Mist Metallic (P). The GM Canada records I have show both an L79 Chevy II 2 door sedan and L79 Nova SS built in Cypress Green, plus a couple of L79 SS cars in Plum Mist.

We have to find one of those Canadian L79 sedans, that would be my next resto if I came across one.
