Aje clip arrived today.....

Does anybody know what length the tie rod end adjusters are to be???

I seem to have ones that are 3.5" and that looks to be too long as I can't get an alignment even "eyeballed" into it on the drivers side.

I know I'm replying to a 2yr old post but I'm looking into buying an AJE clip for my 67. After you finally got the clip installed are you happy with the way it works? What about the craftsmenship? I'm going with the standard non adj. A arms, alum panels and drag brakes. Would you have any advice for me before I buy it? Thanks for any input. Kilowatt

One thing I wish I would have done, look into the Smith Racecraft kit. If I remember right they did not have theirs available when I bought my AJE, and I wish they did. I have seen a few cars with the Smith kit, they looked great and the owners seemed very satisfied with it.

Overall the AJE kit is very nice, and was a HUGE improvement. But, after the problems I had with getting the correct parts and shipping problems, I would maybe look elsewhere.

Not to mention, my brother has a AJE kit also on his 67. After turning onto the return road following a 154 mph pass, his rack mounts ripped right off the subframe! I think he's still finding turds under his seat.

Thanks for the input. I did look into the smith racecraft peice and it looked like a very nice peice but it was going to cost me alot more. I'm allready spending alot more than I intended. I also didn't want to use motorplates, the AJE unit uses regular mounts. I will check to make sure the rack mounts look secure. thanks again, KW

Smith Racecraft now can set the front ends up for side engine mounts instead of motor and mid plates. Just a FYI. Lemme know and I can post a price sheet.

Wow, after reading about the issues some of these guys have had with the AJE kits, I would be looking at spending more money and getting something that causes fewer headaches.

Any new news on the AJE stuff ??? Any feedback after a few years of running this stuff ??? I'm considering one of their front clips for a 64' bracket car.

What do you guys use for BBC headers ????

I'm kinda stuck between the strut AJE setup or a TCI coil spring ...........

Mine worked out ok. You can drive the car with 1 finger at 150mph. The only thing I don't like about it is the bumpsteer. 1 of these years I'll cut the rack off and move it to correct it.

I had to build my own headers to fit 18* heads on a SBC.

How bad is the bumpsteer ??? I would think that would be easy enough for them to "engineer" correctly ..........

How much actual front end travel do you have ????

I've never measured the travel but if I had to guess I'd say 5 to 6". If the rack was lowered by about 1" it would fix most of the bump steer issues. It toes in about 5* at full extension.
