1975 Chev. Nova.

I'm new at this and yesterday's post was made in the wrong area as per moderator. I just posted a new thread in the originality area which may or may not be in the correct area but based in what I just read I believe I'm finally in the correct area. I have a 1975 Che. Nova, 250cid, 4.1L, L-6 manual 3 speed transmission and I'm looking to buy the timing chain (belt) and other related parts needed to complete this job properly. I need to find our where to shop for the above mentioned part and anything else that may be needed. Thanks very much for any help.

Shouldn't you be able to have the local auto parts store order them for you?

Autozone, napa, o'reillys ...etc

Thanks for your input, I will consider that, however I normally prefer to deal directly with the distributor. Only once did I encounter problems with Classic Industries.

You probably already know that your engine uses a timing gear, instead of a chain or belt.

NAPA should be able to help you out.

Hi, with the forum help I just found that out. I just e mail Cloyes Gear & products, Inc for more info. and the posibility of placing the order soon. I want their input as to replacing or not both cam and crankshaft gears. Not knowing the condition of the camshaft gear I think I should play it save and order a new one anyway. What do you think. I realized that the likelyhood of the metal one being damage is low. This Cloyes Gear Inc. show manufactures NAPA and CARQUEST products. Take care.

That metal gear holds up pretty good and you probably will not have to replace it.
