I was at a wrecking yard here in Florida today and found a 1 of 324 L30 327 12 bolt 65 hard top. Bought the engine and trans for it complete minus pan and pick up tube. The rear end is gone. The body is so rusted but I now have the cowl tag and VIN tag for it.

That,s great but isn't swapping a cowl and vin tag not only unethical but illegal?
Hmm, interesting, I would have thought they'd be the 1.94" intake heads. Power pack is the 283 head, right?
That's correct, the 300 hp 327 should have the double hump 1.94 intake valve heads on it. The 250 hp 327 engine did use the power pack heads. If he could post the engine code suffix, that would determine if it is a 300 hp 327 engine. The heads could have been changed over the years.

I had the same engine package in a 65 impala and it had power pack heads. So we will see once they pull it and I have it home and take it apart. It is all there except the oil pan and pick up tube.

327-250hp and 300hp engines got 461 double hump heads for all 327 cars regardless of car model after 1964.
Read page 89 of chevy by the numbers 1965-69 edition or there are several other chev docs that state the same.
I would like to see pics of the factory stamp pad on the passenger side front deck.
Did the car have a in dash tach? if yes you should have grabbed it too.
actually I would like to see pics of the cowl tag aslo!
does the engine block stamp pad have a vin# on it? that matches the serial # from the door pillar?
