I have a 66 I'm trying to decide on a vinyl top. I just wanted to here some other opinions. Don't hold back tell me what you think. The car in the pic is not mine but belongs to another member on this site. I used it because it has the rims I'm going to use.
With out:
Black top:
Little darker than paint color:
Go for the vinyl top. Everyone rips them off so its nice to see one with. I didnt vote because the top color depends on the color of the car(and i didnt see what color your cars going to be)
I'm glad to see someone else is considering a vinyl top too. I saw a blue 67 with a black vinyl top at cruising the coast in Mississippi last year. It really gave the car a different look. After the show I decided to go with a vinyl top too. I had to hunt down the sail panel moldings which I found from one of our members. I say go for it and post some pics when you do it. Gary

I happen to have a two-tone '66. The body is mist blue, and top is danube blue. '67 was the first year of the vinyl. I like it because it is different. Most people that see it didn't know they were available from the factory.
I'd start looking for the sail moldings before you commit to it. I don't think they are reproduced and are hard to find.
If it came with a vinyl top, then you should go back that way IF thats what YOU like. If it didn't and you have the trim pieces anyway, do it if you want too. they look good with or without them. 66's rule. Mine did not come with one so I wouldn't add one personally but silver with black would look good.
White would not look good with silver, but here is a shot of my favorite Gen 2 with a vinyl top; you never see them in white, looks really good with whitewalls (and a white interior would be killer).

the pics you included didn't show up on my screen, but my two cents... I love black vinyl tops on muscle cars! My last ride was a 70 Plymouth Duster that was hemi orange with matte black stripes and a black vinyl top. I just love them!
There is a Silver with Black vinyl top 67' Chevelle that shows up at some of the local shows here. It's a Pro-touring look with Big wheels and a rumbling motor....I'll tell you that the color combo looks awesome!
