Steve's Nova Site is an automotive enthusiast website dedicated to the 1962 - 1979 Chevrolet Nova, Chevy II and Acadian automobiles. We work together to preserve, restore, drive, show, race and provide fellowship for these classic cars. This is one of the best places to find information about parts, rebuilding, restoration and racing. This website is not affiliated with GM, General Motors or Chevrolet in any capacity.
I figured you were a shoe-in. I've been chasing my 60' problem for a while. Some say just put the bottle on it, but I think it's a clutch issue. Car would dead-hook and bog then shoot out of the hole. I got some white stripes on the tires, and now have sufficient throwout bearing clearance so I can see how much the car hooks or spins. I am going to be looking at controlling clutch slippage so the motor doesn't bog. Stickshift cars are fun...

Hey Aron, not sure whether this would help or not, but does the car bog often? have you tried maybe running more tire pressure when it does?
just a thought. I don't know what you usually run.

The car has seemed to like 12 1/2 to 12 3/4. Maybe I'll start up at 14 or so? It's always easy to go down in pressure, but not so easy to go back up. It really bogged at Fontana for the LA Invasion event, and just slightly bogs at Irwindale. The last time at Irwindale I had 4.56's though. This time I'm back on my 3.73's, so when the car hooks it takes a bit of power to keep it going. That's why Steve (no67va) just said to put the bottle on it. Seemed to have the traction, just not the power!

I have a bunch of tools that I bring with me to the track. I actually (finally!) got a cheapie plastic Stanley toolbox so they're all in one place instead of cardboard boxes. If anyone has a truck I could place them under I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise they're dead weight in the back seat...

After losing about $1500 in tools (I got robbed twice) on Thursdays, I bought a cable lock and tie my stuff to the railing along the staging lanes. On Sunday you can leave your things laying out without a problem, but the scumbag import racers have to be watched on Thursday nights.
