I have setup nitrous on on efi cars before and its pretty straight forward but want to get some info before I tear into mine. I have a 850 demon on edelbrock torker manifold (I know, I know), still trying to figure out which model exactly but it matches this sideshot on tvmadeez.com
Maybe this will help in what I am asking but I'm trying to figure out which style plate I need for this carb. Also I was wondering if my stock mechanical pump will be adequate for a nitrous setup and if a regulator will be required? Like I said messed with nitrous before on efi cars but this is a whole new game to me so please excuse my ignorance.
Fuel pump is going to depend on HP levels, I would not spray much with a stocker, personally I woundnt spray any with the stock pump, but I know how much I have wrapped up in my motor. I personally run the Mallory Comp 250 with a 150 and 200 shot. The magnafuel, and weldon are good pumps also. You need to run a seperate regulator to your fuel solenoid, and you will have to set the fuel pressure FLOWING. You will need to either purchase or assemble a flow tool to do this. As far as which style of plate to use, we will need to know more about your intended usage and HP level, but for the most part a good cross bar plate will fix you up. If you want to get froggy, do a direct port (fogger) setup.

Dang, I forgot to mention I have a NX shark nozzle kit that used to be on my cobra. So I have bottles, lines, solenoids, purge & so on. Is there a guide out there for fuel pills using carb fuel pressure? So based on the kit I have what plate should I use. Sorry for forgetting that.

any 4150 style plate will work , i would recommend the edelbrock performer rpm plate kit

Whatever plate you get, just get a pill kit with it. I know you already have some pills but not all of them interchange.
The Sniper plate's not bad (it's actually the same as the Cheater plate) but there's a LOT better out there. Cold Fusion has a good plate. It's basically the same (exact copy) as the NOS Big Shot plate. I've known Mike and Chip for YEARS and both are pretty good people to deal with.
For the lower levels of nitrous (up to 150) you really shouldn't have to worry about distribution issues. But 175 and up you want a GOOD plate. The Big Shot plate (and the Cold Fusion plate) and the Cross-Bar plate would be my first choices. From there I would look at the Diffuser plate from Speedtech.
As for your fuel system, the easiest way I've seen it done (and done it myself) was with a 1 gallon fuel cell mounted under the hood (where the battery typically is) and an inline EFI pump and (carb) return style regulator. Excellent reliability and rock solid fuel pressure. It also allows you to run a different fuel in the nitrous system than what the car's running through the carb so a little extra octane can be added without the expense of having to fill your main tank or the headache of having to tune your carb for a different fuel either.

I always plan and build for more than the initial setup because nitrous is addicting. I've been selling kits and refills for better than 10 years now and I know the temptation to "Pill it up" and ultimately "Pill it till ya kill it".

I'm installing a fuel cell w/ return here soon, could I use that same setup to provide to both my carb & noid? I already run 91 blended with race fuel all the time. Using a efi fuel pump is ok with carb style reg? It doesn't overwhelm it at all?

I Like the independent system better because it allows more flexibility in the tuning and fuel selection. A lower compression engine will tend to foul plugs if too much octane is used, especially on nitrous engines since a colder plug is required. With an independent fuel supply (and cell) for the nitrous I can spray 110 or even 116 with the nitrous system but the carb will never see anything different than the 91/92 pump gas in the tank. The plugs will stay clean longer, tune will be more consistent, etc..
Now, CAN you feed the engine and nitrous system with the same fuel cell/pump/system? Absolutely. As long as the system is adequate enough to supply the total demands of the engine and nitrous system with enough head-room to allow for the pressure drop upon activation and launch.
The fuel system on a nitrous engine is NOT a place to try and scrimp. Remember, the nitrous pressure will be there and if the fuel pressure drops even 1 pound it will go lean and can spell disaster for your engine.

all good posts, personally I think when using a single plate system that only works up to 200hp keep it all simple. I've always recommended to use 1 good pump or two smaller ones. I had two holley blues that fed my engine and nitrous system. A buddy of mine used a product engineering 500 pump to run his 572 and a 400hp fogger. I also plumbed a system for a buddy of mine with two mallory 140's. Spend your money wisely and keep it simple. FYI most plate systems out of the box are set up rich, you'll see guys swap the fuel and nitrous jets around to make more power and lean out the tune up. Timing and fuel pressure are critical.
