I need to change the speedometer cable on my '71 Nova.

Can the cable end at the back of the speedometer be accessed without taking the dash apart and insturment/gauge panel out...? Does it screw on or is there a clip for it....?

Also....found something interesting about the big block 3rd gen cars:
....Most people do not realize that on performance manual transmission cars, the speedometer cable was routed higher up on the firewall by the distributor, and ran down the firewall, usually held by three clips, away from the clutch Z-bar. ....1968 1969 1970 1971 1972 Nova 4-speed models....
Thanks..!
