ok so I'm trying to upgrade from drum to disc. I have 17's so I can go big rotors there are many kits out there. When they say that the original GM disc brakes push out the wheel 3/8 and the drum brakes are in 3/8, so now my question what is the true 0 offset on disc brakes? Because I'm cutting close to the bottom of fender and if it pushes out 3/8 will it hit?

CPP makes a 0 offset disc brake kit.

Basically it depends on the brake kit. Some kits keep the stock location (front) some move it out a touch (I believe the kits that bump it out re-use the drum spindle). I have not noticed a change going from drum to disc up front, but the rear is a different story. Almost all rear disc kits bump the wheels out 1/4" or so because of the difference in thickness between the disc rotor and the original drum.

Well I was checking eBay and the post said that novas that came with disc brakes originally pushed the wheel out 3/8 so the kit that he sells is the same is he full of it? So Cpp kit keeps the original offset as the drums?

I would have to check out his kits to see. The CPP kit is a zero offset kit, so it keeps the hub face in the same place as the drum brakes. But, it only has 11" rotors. I will check to see what the specs on the big disc brake kits are.

So does the spindle cause the offset problem or is it the rotors that are being used in the kits?

Im not 100% sure, but I believe the rotor wheel mounting face is pushed outward for disc brake caliper clearance.

I'd guess the rotor causes it. I had no tire rubbing issues until I changed my drummies to discs and now it hits very top, and very bottom back...I just wasn't quite sure why. I put in new control arm bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, disc brakes, the whole nine yards, so there were a few things that it could be.
