Okay, this should bring in some interesting comments. Lets say we see a 3rd gen Nova SS clone for sale. Every detail was perfectly done and the 350 drive tran having near the best of everything hands down. The only thing missing to make this a real SS was the Vin and the car was stunning. Keeping an open mind and that this car was not being advertised as a real SS, just one as near perfect to a real SS as one could think.
What would you value this car at? I have seen many cars cloned to an SS, some crappy jobs and some great jobs. I would say a near perfect SS clone could bring some big numbers by comparison..
What ya think?

I don't have a value, but the car would be valued high. Anymore, people are into the looks of things rather than authenticity, and they will pay for it.

it's all relevant to who's buying? If they know it's a clone and don't care then sure they will probably pay big money. Me I wouldn't pay top dollar no matter how good of a clone it is. I would just pay value for a top notch standard Nova.

On any clone/replica/tribute car the level of authenticity is going to be the determining factor... I have never seen a PURE replica of any car.. the cost is prohibitive... and its usually in the engine compartment, drive line, where the deviation occurs......
cosmetics, detail to body prep, lines etc.. can place a better value on any car...
a 68/70 Nova LS3/L78/L72/L88/L98 well... if done very right and righteous... I dont know what I would pay.. I have seen pricing for 40k on a knock off then I have also see pricing of 40k for the supposed real deal...
Would I buy such a car... uuuummmm NO... I have more fun with the cars that are not museum pieces... would I plant a 572 in a NOVA with a 6speed.... yep!
would I plant a LSX 6 bolt headed 472 GEN3 with all the nightmarish, turbos, DFI, sheet metal intake.. yada yada..... in any car........
HO boy you bet..:D
Would I pay for it???
Hey PSSStt.. can I barrow a buck?

j/k ive seen plenty of cars with ss trim selling for outrageous amounts
at shows out here in vegas... seller never claims it to be anything they just put a price on it and the guy buying it doesnt know the difference between a true ss or a clone... much less the value..
I hate to say this but with all of the sneaky people around printing up fake this and fake that im suprised at what is keeping a person from making replica trim tags and paperwork...
me, ill just chase veno around with my clone 302 and an empty nitrous bottle

You aren't gonna try making your car an SS and you're just trying to find out if there'll be any return on your investment are you??:turn:

LOL!!! No, and by the way my Nova already is cloned an SS (Yes, the right way).. I would never sell my car. I would have to be on the Ball's of my ***** to even think about selling it. I have way to much hard work and money into her, plus I love it!
I was wondering when somone was going to ask that question

a clone is a clone is a clone...............
websters - Clone n. 1. An exact duplicate: "Our product is a clone of their product." Implies a legal reimplementation from documentation or by reverse-engineering. Also connotes lower price. 2. A shoddy, spurious copy: "Their product is a clone of our product." 3. A blatant ripoff, most likely violating copyright, patent, or trade secret protections: "Your product is a clone of my product." This use implies legal action is pending.
seems pretty clear. i guess people with too much money will pay what they will..................

 But most people who buy clones as you put it won't drive them because it drives down the value and puts the car a risk. So, people who love cars like that love clones because they cost less and you can drive them like you stole them. The real deals have a place in this world but not in my garage. I want something I can drive, been there, done that!! :D

My 69 L-78 nova that i got off ebay is a real 396/375hp with the motor missing but has the right trans and rearend, and when i do put a date coded motor in it you bet i'm going to drive it like i stole it, it will be just about an everyday driver as well as a drag car, and show car for what it will be worth, but i know when i'm behind the wheel pulling though the gears i will be all smiles and looking for that next race show or cruise, as for clones i think they are great (if) big word, people would just be up front and tell the person thats buying it, its a clone so there are no hard feelings.
