What does this kit do? I know it converts to an upper shim alignment but why is that a good thing? Can someone explain what it does and why I should want it?

A lot of Nova owners have problems with the LCA eccentric moving, causing the alignment to shift out of spec. The lockout kit uses a square bracket that locks the LCA into one of three "rough" adjustements, and shims can be used on the UCA for fine adjustments. I never had an issue myself, but if you are looking to improve your front end I would look into the CPP mini-subframe kit.

Some people have problem with the cams on the lower control arms slipping and causing the alignmet to go out of spec. The kit locks the lower arm in a fixed location and them you use shims on the upper arm like other car use.It seems to depend on how you drive your car and if the serated washer are in good shape wether you will have any issues with the stock cams.I drove my car for years and never had an issue with the alignment changing. My car is more of a straight line car so I do not push it hard in the corners.

If the pothole fairy spends a lot of time in the area where you drive, the shim-type setup will not be knocked out of alignment nearly as easily as the cam-type.
