Not Nova but..... if anyone here buys stuff off ebay, please, please check out their shipping/handling charges. I came across a few screws and fasteners specific to my project. $15 was the opening bid and I thought ...ok it might be worth it to have the correct pieces. Then I scroll down and he has "Shipping..$15" Typical sleeze on ebay. Stick em in a mailer envelope and the cost might be $1.50 at most!!! I asked him if the shipping charges were correct?? Needless to say, no response!!
Check the shipping/handling charges on items you might be interested in!!!
Cheers Ric with your tip of the day!! :)

Seems to be the trend on Ebay. Sellers have found a way to increase profits by selling at a low price (hence a smaller percentage to Ebay) and making up the difference in shipping.
Unfortunately, the only way to deal with this is to not purchase from those sellers.
The flip side is, depending on gas cost, etc, it might be worth it to pay the inflated shipping to get exactly what you want.
Just my opinion...

Well I am sorry ,but those guys are lower that scum bags. I look every time after I figured that out. I normally send them a note telling them what they are and even go as far as reporting the ad. It sucks and so do they. I put them on my Crap List. I hope they starve.

Always look at the total cost, and if it is fair for whatever you want, who cares how the price is divided? As for the seller,Its not a bad way to save ebay fees if the item is priced low. Its just the people who ask a normal price for something + an extremely high shipping cost = Aholes

I thought Ebay was supposed to be looking into the practice of excessive shipping prices. I know I read that somewhere.
I recently had to pay $14 to have a $ 20 item shipped to me. It might weigh 2 pounds. They are even shipping it via snail mail, which is usually slower and costs them even less to ship. I checked his sales record and his upcoming items for sale and it looks like people are really happy with him. I can't say that I'm one of those people.

And this is new news?
E-bay has been a rip-off for at least the last 5 years. Deal locally unless it says free shipping and it's a buy it now auction.

Good point. If you absolutely have to get that part, then it's worth working out something. Otherwise, stay with local stuff.

You need to watch out for the other scum bags that don't post shipping costs then try and nail you after the fact.

I don't understand how you guys can rip a a seller if they clearly list the shipping cost. If you don't like the shipping costs then you need to simply pass on that item and find a seller that sells it with less shipping costs. Your the consumer, it's up to you who you buy from. The way you need to need look at it is that the SHIPPING COST plus the final BID PRICE is your price for the item.
Bottom Line ... if you don't like the price don't bid.
And no one should EVER bid on an item without inquiring on the shipping cost if it is not listed. To do so is silly wether it's on eBay or any other internet sale.

It's not just EPAy! I was looking for a book on Mastercam recently. I found the book on a regular site for $38 and then they wanted $20 for shipping. The stupid thing was they had a $40 minimum purchase and that didn't include the shipping. I looked a little further for said book.

I found a manual for my 4 wheeler for .01 "Buy it now" with a 9.99 shipping fee. I think that might be a bit of a rip off on shipping.

i think the idea there is rock bottom ebay fees for the seller. you're really paying about $8 for the manual, yet ebay is only getting a listing fee, no percentage of the .01 'selling' price.
