Yes, it's a true SS and the 327 certainly isn't numbers matching.......because the car was born a six cylinder:rolleyes:. The original color was Sandalwood Tan with a Fawn interior. Never mind six cylinder cars, no 66 Chevy II's had factory 4:10 rear gears. It doesn't say the 4 speed was original, but doesn't say it was added later, either. Because it has no console, I suspect it was originally a manual 3 on-the-tree. Notice there are no pics of the truth-telling six cylinder VIN, but there is one of the cowl tag showing, as they all did, that it's a V/8. If you know the right questions to ask, you'll discover the truth. If not, you could buy a car that isn't what you think it is.

response ....
"No, no build sheet and a console was an option, which was not ordered with this car. Can't help about the color change - bought it that way. "

It's reading like the seller is trying to describe the car as an original 327 SS but I see the 6 cylinder VIN is in the item description....but as with anything..buyer beware!

I resent your implication. Vin # does NOT denote a 6 or 8 cyl. You must decode the tyrim tag...The style number denotes 11837 which is an 8 cyl. Nova SS and the trim color of 118 shows it was originally Fawn color on an SS car. The center console, furthermore, was an OPTION, which was not ordered on this car. Try doing a little research before you start spouting off about something you know NOTHING about!! If you need help decoding the vin, I'll be happy to do that for you as well.

Dear classiccarsse,
The cowl tag is not indicative of the actual engine...only the VIN !! ..Vin 11737 denotes an SS 6cly Nova. 11837 denotes an SS 8cyl Nova. Buckets and console were standard when ordering the SS with either an automatic or 4 speed. The console was deleted if the transmission was the 3 speed on the colum which was a no cost item. I've been into novas for over 45 years. http://www.novaresource.org/v67.htm You had better do YOUR homework or you could end up in court for misrepresentation. I am only letting you know. It is a nice car and I wish you luck with your auction. No intention to upset you. Also if the car were a factory 4spd the cowl tag would have a "2L" on it.
Thanx Ric

I've sent my questions which are basically the same as what the rest of you guys asked. This seller is obviously not a Nova person.

Here's the latest....
Whichever one of us is right, the car IS a true SS. That's what I advertised - nothing is said about it being a matching numbers car - because it is NOT.
I think they are getting the picture, but the advertising header is still very incorrect and could cause some legal action when the new owner finds out!! If I was to bid..... then win this car.... then find out it was originally a 6cyl car, do I still have to pay for it ??? They say the motor is correct??? ... I asked "correct for what???"
we'll see. Just trying to help the less-informed become better people aren't we?????????? Ric

The message must ge getting through that he's the 'Nova ignorant' person and not us. I've had no reply to my questions.
