I am thinking my tranny is bout shot. (4 spd Blue car) If I decide to stick with the Saginaw what do you all think of this deal. I don't know if I want to go to Muncie cause I am not going to race this one just have fun with it. Love to have a 5 speed but just can't see the 3K or so right now. Thanks

Well, I have purchased two Sag's over the past year prior to getting my Richmond 5 speed and that price is a bit high. Over $500 and the reserve is still not hit yet. Keep looking.. A fair deal rebuilt for a Sag should not be over $500 IMO.

Slickman, Didn't know if you saw this in the description or not. It does make it look better. I can use the new shifter and linkage as mine is really sloppy.
I would prolly do most of the new parts and resurfacing while I was in there anyway. I just don't know if it makes it look good enough. Thanks
Lance

I bought my 1200.00 Saganaw off of eBay too.
Not rebuilt, but nice and tight and they threw in a Hurst Shifter.
And a 73 Nova.
That price is a little high.

I only paid $1680 for a new TKO 600 for the Nova, and that included the shifter, speedometer cable with gear, yoke and a piece of crap mount I threw away. It is the unnecessary kit that runs the price up.

And that Saginaw is the weakest of all of them. More than likely from a Vega or Monza.

I have a 3-ring Saginaw in my car.....that is a very strong transmission with great gear-ratios however, the price is 3 times what you can buy one for just about anywhere. The rebuilt clutch assembly is probably Autozone junk and the rest of the small parts are cheap. Also, read the description....it's not rebuilt, just painted. I'd look around......you'll also probably need a different shifter install kit....that doesn't look like it will fit a Nova.
