Yes... worth much more than his expected price!
All it's missing is some cosmetic TLC. That car is on it's way to be a nice G-Machine.
Don't know the guy, never talked to him, just looked at his build list.

17K is pretty close. Still needs 10K worth of body and interior work.

You can really rack up a tab(parts/labor/fab ) in shops in Bay area , I just saw a super mint sunbeam tiger another car buff place of work just finished restoring only had a peek because it had to be delivered tonight , So I was told that the owner had it restored to perfection guy spent $65K on it only thing he did was write checks.

What is the fun in just writting checks? I'm sorry but just dropping a car off and saying build it to make it nice and then picking it up takes most of the fun out of building a car. I know it can be a pain but still. I bet half of the guys you seen on American Hotrod who paid Boyd couldn't even tell you hardly anything about the cars or what was done to them.

$90k into a car that's not even worth $17k? Wow.

I mean yeah don't get me wrong I hate and love building a car all in the same. I just think to go and buy a car already done or pay someone else to build it is just kind of like it doesn't mean much. I paid my uncle to help me since I work full time and he is retired but I am still down there every other day looking at it, helping with it, and I have been the one to order and find everything for it. I think it will mean alot more to me when it's done though.

There are guys who can't weld, paint, assemble...... etc, etc...... some guys or gals can't even hold a screwdriver or wrench properly!!.....but the main objective and desire these people have is to promote and enjoy this great hobby of ours. They provide employment in the industry and most important... they enjoy their ride just as much as you or I do after we do most of the work on our own projects. I welcome them on show days as they really are still a huge part of things in "The Big Picture"!! Just my 2 cents which is at par with the US 2 cents!!! Next time just think of how many shops these people are responsible for. Good for the economy!:)

This kinda puts things in a different light!!
TWO WAYS TO LOOK AT EVERYTHING
My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept
staring at a drunken woman swigging her drink, as she sat alone at a nearby table.
My wife asks, "Do you know her?" "Yes," I sighed. "She's my old girlfriend.
I understand she started drinking right after we split up those many years ago,and I hear she hasn't been sober since.
"My God!" says my wife. "Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?"
So you see, there really are two ways to look at everything ......
good one huh !! Cheers Ric

Well shop or dyi a car is a car but either way you should still know as much about it as you can. My mom worked with a lady some time ago and her husband would buy older cars he knew nothing about, trailer them to shows, and then sell them 2 years later just to buy anpther one. Kind of weird if you asked me. He got lots of trophies but I don't really see how a trophy could mean anything to someone if it's for a car they know nothing about and didn't even have a hand in building. I'll be honest I was brought up around cars and kind of trained to drive them and it has been the last 2 years that I have learned so much about the mechanics and building aspect. In turn it made me understand and appreciate cars and the details. I think anyone can learn how to do it if they want and try to learn and I think if more people did vs writing checks they would appreciate and gain so much more from it. Now I think if there is something you know how to do but you aren't great in that area yes take it to a shop but that's just me. I see what you are saying though

NWYenko's wife LaDonna and mine, Sharon, have never picked up a wrench, but they cant tell a lot of guys a lot of things about cars, drive trains etc. If we are showing our car and I'm not around, Sharon could most likely answer any question about the car you might have. I also understand what you are saying but if that guy is getting trophies, he may not know much about the car............ but he loves the attention and all the trophies he can get. Some guys just love the comraderie involved in this hobby, I know I do.
AND............. I've never met a car guy that didn't talk much!! Sharon wonders sometime if I ever stop to take a breath!! Also, I know about 95% of the guys n gals on this site do what they can to their rides..... I know I feel good doing everything I can do!!
Headin' to the garage to see a Mopar!!!:devil: :beer:

Yeah well that's a good thing too. I think just being out and about and seeing and meeting people into cars is the best part. The thumbs up and pictures and compliments are in its own a trophy or at least I think so.
