Hee's a fine Canadian example, somewhat spendy, but may be worth it. Says only 200 made?? Love the Acadian dogdish caps.

When I had mine researched by GM, they only gave me the total 2 door V8 cars made. (1282 in 1970). Didn't say how many SS cars were built. Maybe he is estimating the number of SS cars built?
Nice car, have not seen many 69 Acadian SS cars. The automatic is unusual. Most Acadian SS cars I have seen are four speed cars.
Like the maple leafs on the hood.

A very nice, rare car, but not sure if it's in the 50K range. The 'Acadian' script on the hood edge is too big and appears to be the same as the rear quarter script on 68's. They haven't got the headlight bezel ends painted correctly and these cars never had an air cleaner decal that says 'Pontiac.'
The red stripe tires were part of the 69 Acadian SS package, but the dog dish caps were not, but they look great on this car.
I'm not sure where the '200 made' figure comes from, either. I don't think this would have been on the GM Canada documentation. The SS was an option package and GM doesn't provide numbers info on options. Still a very nice car that wouldn't take much to be 100% correct.

THANK YOU BOB ! It took five years to restore !!! The 1969 hood plate or emblem part number is #725778 , is different then the 1968 quarter plate #7795117 { one inch longer } . When restoring the car i had the orig emblem rechromed, there are holes in the hood for the emblem{ pic} . RE- hupcap, it orig had the full caps { i have them } but love the poverty caps !!!{ the small acadian cap are bass with chrome plating } . They headlamp bezels where n.o.s an i had a problem painting over them , I know there wrong but just paided to much for them to paint them . The car came with px7 option - e70-14-4 pr tire-oe- white stripe tire . The air cleaner decel ? well !! had to have pontiac on the car some where ? { have the correct one }. thx matt

Hi Matt. Well, I'm glad I didn't trash your car too badly:). When we discuss cars here I always try and imagine that it belongs to one of our members who probably has years of his heart and soul in it. There aren't too many cars of any type that are 100% correct. You've done an outstanding job on this Acadian (inspite of what GM's documentation says, no Acadians were ever Pontiacs!). Thanks for posting the additional pics, especially on the tires. I never knew there was a whitewall option.
Having gone through 5 years of restoring this car, perhaps you can answer this question. Were the parking light lenses in these cars amber color, or were they white with amber bulbs behind them? The 69 brochure appears to show white lenses, except where they're on, and then they are amber.

I had to add a comment here about this picture. Somewhere here I read a couple of years ago about cowl tag decoding. I know there is no "hard-core" solid FACTS on cowl tags but someone figured out that on the bottom row there is a lone number that is 1, 2, OR 3....never 4. This is supposed to mean the number of side trims the car had. You could not order all 4 available, only up to 3 of them. The 4 available were drip-rail, door/window frame, side-body, and rocker. The car in this picture looks to have all 4 trims but maybe it's just the way the picture looks. Does anyone have any insight into this?
By the way, I'm talking about the green car in the ad. And one more thing....I LOVE that 350 emblem on your blue car!

I saw this car at a small Pontiac show a couple of weeks ago. It is the real deal and has bullet proof paperwork. The restoration was top notch , the only issue I would address as far as condition is concerned is some minor paint flaws on the rear edges of the decklid. Certainly nothing major. Wheels are wrong but look awesome. If this car was a 4spd I would have bought it on the spot. This car would make a great addition to someones collection! Now, does anyone know where I can find a 4spd 68-70?

If I hadn't crossed over to the "Dark Side".... with the Mopar...I would consider this car myself. The 4 gear version, no doubt.

Matt,
I wonder if you know who may have a hood emblem for a 1971 Acadian for sale. The guy I bought my Acadian from had the Chevy Nova emblem on the hood, but I seem to have a hard time finding one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I came across this 69 Acadian Coupe three years ago in a Vernon, B.C. storage yard. Yard owner said the owner was....you guessed it.....going to restore it. I was back in Vernon this past April. New storage yard owner, but the car is is still there and the owner is.........still going to restore it.
The car looks pretty good from the front, but has lots of rust. You can see right into the trunk thru both quarters, door panel is rusted halfway up to the beltline on the passenger side. The engine is a 307 with a TH350. It has the custom interior option, bucket seat option, console with gauges and vinyl roof. This was a fine car in it's day, but won't survive too many more Okanagan winters.

Well, he's incorrect on one thing. All Acadians were built in the U.S. after 1967, so it wasn't one of two built in Canada. I've never heard of a factory 427 Acadian. Would like to see the GM Canada documentation on this one.

Great looking car. I only have one question that stands out. This is a Pontiac right? What heads are on this car? They look like Chevy heads, not pontiac heads. Chevy's have side mounted headers, while the Pontiac heads have bottom mounted headers. I could be wrong, and I mean no offense to this car or yourself.

No, Acadians are not Pontiacs. They were a stand-alone line of cars sold at Pontiac-Buick-Acadian-Vauxhall-GMC Truck dealers in Canada. From 1962-1967, they were built in Oshawa, Ontario. From 1968 til the last ones were produced in 1971, Acadians were all built along side Chevy Novas in Willow Run, Michigan and exported for sale in Canada. Through the years Acadians and Chevy II's shared almost identical drivetrains.
