This guy thinks his 117 VIN 65 SS with the 118 cowl tag means:
"VIN number indicates that the car started out to be a 6cyl SS, but the engine/ cowl plate indicates it was changed before production to be a v8/4sp SS car."
Yeah right.

So where's the code on the cowl tag that indicates it was a real 4 speed car? Same one that shows the optional grant GT wheel?:rolleyes:Some of these sellers never cease to amaze me with this crap they come up with. He says he doesn't want to cut up a real SS car, might as well considering it's missing all the mouldings, console, correct bucket seats, etc. Not to mention the rust issue.
OK, I'm done now.

It's a real SS but it's not a factory V-8 car like he claims. All 1965 six cylinder Nova SS cars had a 117 VIN tag and a 118 cowl tag. His car wasn't changed to a V-8 at the last minute as he claims. That's total BS.

it was a manual 6 cylinder car, the spot for the "three on the tree" linkage is still there.
If it was an auto car the gear selector window would be on the colum, since there is none it was either a 3 or 4 speed car, since the remains of the shifter lever is still there its makes it a 3 speed.

Didn't spot the column shift, looks like it was a 6cyl. 3 speed SS car. If it had been an auto trans SS, it would have had a console, SS auto. cars didn't have a column indicator.

The VIN and cowl tags both appear to be untampered with. Here's what this car really is:
VIN Tag :
1965 Nova SS L-6
Cowl Tag:
12A (car was built the 1st week of December 1965)
STYLE 65-11837 (1965 Nova SS V-8*) *all 117 L-6 Novas had 118 cowl tags
NOR 2215 (Built at Norwood, OH Plant)
TRIM 712 (Black Buckets)
PAINT (Cypress Green)
Options 2P5L: (Pushbutton AM Radio and Seatbelts)
This car is without a doubt a 1965 Nova SS L-6 six-banger with 3 on the tree. Other than seatbealts and AM pushbutton radio, it's as no-frills of a Nova SS a person could possibly order in 1965. Nothing special about it.
