Sounds like some fun on a beautiful memorial day weekend. Just curious what type of Autometers are you using? I'm still stuck between these in white http://www.jegs.com/p/Auto+Meter/990933/10002/-1?source=home&coll=item3&pos=3 or Phantom 2's.

Geeze, talk about getting nothing done. Your best laid plans can get screwed up some how all the time. I did manage to get the leaf spring pads installed but that's not that exciting. Took it out for a ride and the speedometer cable started screeching like a MOFO.
Since I had some bulbs out in the cluster I decided to switch gears and pull the dash, replaced all the bulbs and re-lubed the speedo cable. That's kind of a PITA job but what a difference. The cluster is clean now, the plastic lens is clear now, and at night the gauges light up much better.
That speedo cable is a real PITA to get out. If you ever decide to take your dash out do yourself a favor and loosen the two clamps on the cable mounted to the sub frame. Then you can slide the cable into the firewall hole and give yourself some slack to get the clip off the back of the cluster.
Still a tedious job but that makes it just a bit easier, no more screeching anyway. I guess I try again this weekend for the other stuff.

Good morning. Glad to see you got a few of some other things taken care of. On my 66 the speedo cable threads onto a fitting on the back of the dash cluster. Quite simple to remove.
I was able to fix my dash lights easily. It was a fuse. But the fuse I changed lined up with "Back-up" lights fuse not the "Int Lghts" fuse. At least everything is working now.
