275/40/17 on 8 inch rim??

Is anyone running a 275/40/17 tire on an 8 inch wide rim? The reason I am asking is that tire manufacturers are recommending an 8.5 or 9 inch minimum width rim for that tire size. Pics would be appreciated.

some tire manufacturers are recommending an 8.5 inch minimum instead of 9 as well, which is why I was asking the question in the first place. And yes, I am fully aware that 8 is less than 8.5

Use the tire manufactures recommendations. It is there because they know what fits the tire. You can get that tire on an 8 inch rim, but it woun't fit correctly.

Some of the GTO guys have done it without any major complications. It does create some tire wear issues as it "pooches" really badly. I would be concerned about exceeding the wheel/tire manufacturers recommendations though...

Thanks for the responses, I was basically just looking to see if anyone had tried it without any major issues....not that I was dead set on using that combo. I had simply heard of people doing that and was looking for anyone who had some first hand experience. Anyways, thanks again.

I ran them on my 17x8 t-thrusts with with out any issues. they also made the side wall look a little fatter. i really didnt pay attention to what was recomended.

im currently running a 275/40 on a 18x9 budnik, i can post some pics if you'd like. i can post pics of it on the 17x8's as well...
