Wheel & Tire combo

Got a quick question. I have a 66 SS. Took it to a repitable classic car place here in OC, CA to get fitted for torque thrust 2's. They told me that only a 17x7 with 4" of bs will fit all 4 corners. I see alot with 17x8, they tell me every nova is different and a 8" wide will not fit in rear.

Are they full of crap or what?

Car has stock rear setup, front has cpp disc kit with 2" drop spindles.

Also what is a good tire size to run?

Thanks,

Dan

A reputable classic car place will not install wheels/tires on your car that will rub when you have the car at an odd chassis angle. If you want to push the wheel envelope and live with some rubbing at inopportune moments, go with larger wheels/tires.

So they took the safe route because they ordered them and are trying to be safe? Should I take two back and tell them I want the 17x8's ? What about the back spacing? And a decent tire combo that will fit?

Everyone I've talked to it seems it's a pain to get the right BS.

Thanks,
Dano
