Was just wondering....what kind of rare factory options have you seen for our cars? Here is a list of the ones Ive seen or read about:
-Rear Defogger
-Liquid Tire Chains
-Headlamp Washers
-Fiber Optic Ashtray Light (Not sure if factory?)
-Cruise Control
-Skyroof
Anyone have any others? Was there a such thing as windshield washer fluid monitor? I was reading about it on '69 Chevelles...used a fiber optic setup I think..? What else have you guys seen?

!970 Nova SS 396/350HP with fibre optic turn signal indicators on front fenders. This car was built in Willow Run for Canadian export, so it had GM Canada documentation. Wish I'd made note of the option code for the fibre optics. This car was in Canada until about 10 years ago, then was sold into the U.S. It has been on Ebay several times in the last 5 years. This car was Autumn Gold, same as my 1970 L78. Last time I saw the car was at an indoor show here in SW B.C. just before it was sold.

Not sure how rare it really is, but my 69 L-34 car has a low "FUEL" light that comes on if the tank level gets too low. Maybe this is unique to cars equipped with a console and gauges??

How about rear seat armrests...not too common. Also AM/FM Radios. Did our cars have available power trunk option?

Kick panel speakers & 8 track tape, F41 suspension, Radio delete

I have one Nova with rear seat arm rests, the other 2 do not have them. It's part of the custom or deluxe interior. Standard interior didn't get them. I think the speed warning option is pretty rare.

I believe the RPO C48 Heater Delete option ended with 1967 models.

There was never a radio delete option in any year of Chevy II or Nova, because radios were always optionally. A true delete has an RPO number and deletes something that came as standard equipment on the car. Chevy IIs and Novas described as 'radio delete' are just cars where a radio was never ordered when new, or the radio was taken out and the appropriate non radio dash panel or dash plate was installed.

The remote control bullet mirror was standard equipment on Rally Nova in '71 and '72.

Depends what part of the country you lived in. Where I grew up (Texas) rear window defrosters were probably rare! Some of these things, like the trailer hitch or even some luggage racks, were dealer installed after market items.

...but a rear wheel squirter!? Liquid tire chains?! Seriously! Load 'em up with chlorox, man!!

WAS READING IN THE NEW MUSCLE MACHINES MAGAZINE ABOUT A "VOE" OPTION ON '70 MODEL GTO'S THAT WAS QUICKLY DISCONTINUED. IT WAS BASICALLY MUFFLERS WITH VACUUM ACTUATORS ON THEM THAT OPERATED OFF A SWITCH UNDER THE DASH AND USED VACUUM TO...MORE OR LESS...WORK LIKE CUTOUTS. SO I GOOGLED IT AND FOUND A ARTICLE THAT SAID THE OPTION WAS SOLD OVER THE COUNTER TILL '72...THEN DISCONTINUED BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH SOUND LAWS ETC. IF YOU GO TO WWW.WALDRONSEXHAUST.COM THEY SHOW REPRO SETS THERE. ANYONE EVER SEEN THE OPTION ON A NOVA? REMEBER A FEW YRS AGO SEEING IT IN A MUSCLECAR REVIEW MAGAZINE ON A '69 CHEVELLE DESCRIBED AS A DEALER INSTALLED ACCESSORY EXHAUST? THINKING HARD ABOUT LAYING DOWN THE CASH ON A SET...

The rear armrests just screw to the rear panel like the front ones do. They will have no bearing on the width of the seat like a convertible or hardtop armrest panel would.

i have never herd of this can you explain it in more depth for me.

It was a small pump with lines over the rear tires,to wet them for a burnout.

some other rare options, atleast for 69 were the center console, the guages and dual exhaust in a non SS car.

The most expensive option in 69 was the tach!To get a tach you needed to order all the gauges,to get the gauges you needed to order the console,to get that you needed to order bucket seats, and to get the buckets seat you needed to order the custom interior package. So after all was said and done you spent over $500 for a $20 tach!
