I am putting together a rear disc brake conversion for my 62 10 bolt & was wondering what do I use for a master cylinder? I have disc/drum now & I used a disc/drum cylinder off a later nova but I dont know what to use for a 4 wheel disc set up? Any suggestions guys?

I put 4 wheel disc on a 32 coupe a few years back, and I went to the parts store and got a master cylinder for like a 60's Corvette. They had 4 wheel disc. You'll want to tell them the bore size. I also didn't have a power booster, so that made it easier. Just and idea that I did. Theres also CPP. I know they have everything. Scott

It looks pretty good, are there any other options that might not be so bulky?

Try looking at a master cylinder from a Trans Am late 70's early 80's model with a one inch bore. By the way what's the part number on your disk/drum master. I'll be doing a front disk conversion at the end of the month on the 62 wagon.

The A1 Cardone reman. # is 10-1511. This fits a 68 non-power disc/drum Nova. I actually contacted Cardone & they said that this master cylinder does not have a residual pressure valve...in fact thet claim that none of theirs do. From what I understand the only real difference between a disc & drum cylinder is that the drum brake cylinders has this valve to keep the shoes near the drum...are there any other differences??

I looked at that one & it is the exact function I need, but I'm being really picky...I think its an ugly master cylinder. The way I figure, it the one I'm using now actually doesnt have the residual pressure valve for the rear brakes than it can be used on disc/disc or disc/drum...right? That why I am curious if there are any other differences in master cylinders? Thanks
