I ordered the Hurst reverse light switch. I'm not sure of the part number but you can pick it up at Summit or similar speed shop. I have not hooked mine up yet but it should'nt be too bad.

after 3 years of no revers lights i finally got a ticket for this and looked into it. i think my old Muncie had a place that i hooked a wire to, but my new Muncie does not so i just made a toggle switch and taped it to my shifter. sorry not much help.

From the factory..... the switch mounts to a bracket that bolts to the trans and there is a rod that connects the switch to the reverse lever. If you look real close you will see the hole in the lever just under where the shifter rod goes through it.

On a 72 there was a rod that went from the shifter to a bracket on the frame and then a rod from there to the steering column. Your backup light switch is on the steering column. Not on the trans.

^^This is correct^^
This is known as a reverse lockout rod,it allows the steering to lockout the shifter when the car is shut off.It usually got tossed, because it interferes with the headers.SB cars have a 3 bolt attachment on the subframe and BB use a 2 bolt one,but the rods are the same.
