Need to start looking for a radiator, and would rather do a Summit/Be Cool universal that a made to fit 500 bucks radiator. The support hole is 15" tall, 24" wide. Most of the made to fit crossflows are 19" tall and 26" wide. Figure I got room for a 21" tall and 28" wide radiator.
Was wondering what size some of you have used and fit nicely, or what size some have and wished they got something smaller.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have had real good luck with the heavy duty 4 row "l79" radiator. Used it in my 67 SS, my 66 SEDAN and plan on using it in my 66 GRUMPY"S TOY

Stupes, nope, no old school rads for me, 2 core 1" wide radiators is it now.

Desert 4 row radiator from Classic. Bought it when I was in Hawaii...this car used to run REALLY hot in the heat, especially when idling in the staging lanes at the track....I was pushing 205-215....way hotter than I wanted. I bought the radiator...added some water wetter, and stayed right at 190-195, even while staging, or in traffic.:D

Duane,
I have the Summit in mine, just a tad smaller than what you are looking at though. Now, you know mine is running, but I have not driven it yet, so take that into consideration. Sunday, my car was idling at 205 with the zirgo 3000cfm fan going full blast. It was a solid 205 in 80 degree weather. Now, I am running straight water, and I do probably have an air pocket, so that may effect the temp. Also, I have my heater hose outlets blocked off, and the LSX crowd is claiming that will cause the engine to run hot...who really knows on that one.

Hey Jack, did you pull off the upper rad hose and fill it also, read where the LS1 motors are notorious for overheating if you don't fill that hose.
I like the radiator Mike posted, with the flanges on the engine side so you can mount a fan etc.....
So you just went with one fan, once I get the radiator I'll figure if I want to go one or two.

I have the same part number Mike posted (Mike gave me the number 2 years ago....thanks Mike!) It's a universal design, but it fits my 62 like it was made for it. There are no brakets on it. You will have to fab up something yourself, but that is not hard to do. Check the "Services Offered" or "For Sale" section here at Steves. 66RICH makes some really nice mounting hardware and shrouds for that radiator. Also, the Black Magic Extream fan fits it perfectly. That is the fan I will be using. It covers all but about 1/4" of the radiator.

A Taurus fan will cover virtually all of the 380325.

Duane,
Yes, I filled through the upper hose. I was very limited with what fan I could run due to clearance issues. I have exactly 1/16" between the fan and the water pump pulley. I wanted to run dual fans, but I could not find anything that fit properly, and pulled enough CFM. I eneded up with a 3000CFM 16" zirgo S blade. I wanted to run the Taurus fan, but it required 4.5" mounting depth, and I only had 2.75"
