Doing more diggin.

My paint code on the cowl tag is -- , and if I'm correct that is special order. Can anyone tell me what the official name of this color is so I can match this. Also, I have pretty much narrowed this down and this was a BB car. How much more special is this car with the special order paint?

I attached a pic from 89 when I brought this car home for some help.

Thanks

It's hard to tell from the picture. Kinda looks like rallye green, but that's not likely in 70 unless maybe it was a very early built car. Is that color oversprayed on the interior? We ned more, and better pics from inner locations that most likely were never messed with.
Rare, and unusual combonations tend to make these cars more valuable. But rare doesn't always translate into desireable.ie: 3spd on the column 66 SS impala. Rare, but not very desireable. Yours looks like a good project, but she's gonna take a good deal of TLC. And money.

Like I said that pic was from 89, she had a lot of love and then has been in dry storage for about 17 years. There is overspray on the weather strip, it was repainted but it appears that they matched it. If you lift up the tag on the drivers door the color is the same. Here are some more.

This color is the same underneath the weatherstrip and all hidden areas.

What's the build date, and does it have the welded on brackets for the rear swaybar? I'm thinking that's not rallye green. Maybe a caddy color. Gotta get my book out.

Yes the brackets are welded on. It was built the second week of June,1970.

Thanks

I think you have code #96 Nottingham green firemist metallic. A 70 Caddy color. Any idea who the original selling dealer was? How far back can you trace the ownership?

Still working on that, Most likely the car came from a WI dealer or Northern Il. I'm in Milwaukee.

Thanks for the Paint, I will follow up on that.

I think the double dashes signify a special order color. Here's mine and yeah, I've been called a liar more than once, but this is the real deal.
Also has two slashes for the paint code.

Very cool, Yes, the dashes indicate special paint. Or if I remember correctly, it could be a - B for special pnt/vinyl top.
What color does yours correspond to. A Caddy also?

Marlin, have you ever seen where the color was from a previous year? I don't think I have. Most are same year, different model, ie: caddy, or industrial.

What would be the best option for a match? Try to lift a sample off or? Then match at a paint dealer or?

Plumrat, I think you are Caddy color code# 99 chateau mauve firemist metallic. A 70 color also. What's the build date on your car?
Grim, have a paint jobber scan an area of your car where the sun hasn't dulled it out. Under the trunk lid works sometime. They may try to cross match to the next nearest color still available. Both of your's had a laquer, or enamel code, but never a base coat clear coat code so matching could be difficult without having someone who cares, or is knowledgeable enough to tint the colors around do it. If we were closer, we be glad to help you out. Unless you want to drag it down here to Ia.

Nope, the special paint cars I've seen had another GM paint code for the same year as the car - just not a 'normal' Nova color.

Definitely get the original paint scanned in, I get it done even on the 'normal' colors. I used the cowl sides behind the fenders on Benjamin's '69 as a scan area. I've not sprayed it out yet, but I've got a good jobber - if it doesn't match I've always got Schoneye and SuperCar Workshop formulas to fall back on
