Do you guys fully weld your joints and if so how do deal with needing to take it out to work on something? I want to fully weld all my joints but then it will be impossible to get it all out again. I have intermediate length headers compounding the situation also. Or when the time comes do you just cut it and re-weld the cuts?

My set up came with full stainless pipes and hardware, the only welding I needed to do was the reducers. The rest is bolted just incase!

i hate welded exhaust:mad: i when i bought my nova it just had a all new flowmaster exhaust put on and it was all welded together except where it bolts to the header. now when i want open headers, i have to unbolt the pipe, move it tothe side and put one bolt back in to hold the pipe up:rolleyes: sucks!!

Couple reasons to fully weld the joints I'm thinking. U-clamps suck, band clamps are expensive, either weighs more than a weld. I don't care what clamp you use the tendency for it to leak is always there. Lastly, just piece of mind that nothing can ever leak. I don't run open headers at the track so that is of no concern, plus I want to know what my car does all the time not just when I set it up for the occasional drag. Plus with a good exhaust you really shouldn't lose a whole lot through the muffs.
Open headers do sound tough though at the strip.
I guess just weld it all up and deal with repairs later.

I put a another set of header reducers at the mufflers. 12 bolts and the center drops out.

Mine is slit fit and clamped at the muffler, and muffler only. Everything else is welded.
It's still a PITA to remove the exhaust, as those clamps are TIGHT...but they don't leak. The key is GOOD clamps and reef the heck out of them.
No "tick tick tick" coming from my exhaust.

honestly, weled it fine but in my cases its a PITA if you have to work on somthing.
l uslly have 3 sections Headers Middel And Rear 12bolts and its alright
l like my clamps tho l only run sidepipes with no splitters

Gee, having to remove 6 bolts--that is tough! Whew, what a workout!!
Removing my 3 1/2" system is good for.........basically no performance change--just noise, which isn't allowed at the track I run anyway.
Plenty of 9 second cars out there that are nice and quiet.

This is the only way to take it apart later. even if you clamp it, you will not get the joint apart later with messing up the pipe.
If you have to take down an old system, cut it in a straight section and add the header reducers to bolt it back together.
