Hi guys, A simple question. I have a 68 with 250 L6 with 95000 miles on it. I have been adding lead substitue to the fuel every other tankful. It runs really nice but was wondering if I'm doing the right thing by using it. What do you guys recommend as to fuel additives if any and their frequency? I have been using 89 oct. gas and maybe every ten tanks add carb cleaner.

On our daily drivers I run a system cleaner additive about every 3 months. Not sure about the lead you need though.

Been using this stuff for a while.... It works...I dont use it for the octane properties as much as I use it for the lead properties...and its not a substitute its genuine tetraethyl lead

generally I add 8oz to 15/16 gals of 87 unleaded

If properly tuned, your L6 engine will need only those items that need replacement on regular service intervals.. such as points, plugs, rotor cap wires, air filter, PCV valve, carb adjustment/rebuild. etc....

MOTH BALLS:yes:

ok, i have never tried this, but my g/f's dad drops in about 2 moth balls per gallon of gas and he has been doing it for years. he says it ups the octane and gives you better gas milage.

I wonder what his chemical therory is there? Moth Balls are good for alot uses, but octane boost, not sure I would try that. I'm more concerned about the lead needed to take care of the valvetrain. Rich

Does It Really Boost The Octain That Much. If You Use 93 Octain What Would It Boost Up To?

Thanks Frank I Am Running A 1970 Ls6 454 With 11.25.to 1 Pistons In A64 Nova

And i thought i was the only one that ever did the moth ball thing. I used to to do that back in the 70s On my big block.

I haven't had moths in my tank for years since the initial treatment...
