I have what I believe is a factory hitch but it won't mount up to my 63 wagon:confused:. It's a Drawtite hitch for a "62-67 chevy II".
I'm wondering how it mounts up. Does someone have a picture of a hitch on a wagon?

my wagon had what i belive was a factory hitch , it looked like yours, it mounted to factory holes under the bumper and also had that center bar mounted through the trunk area floor , if this helps......

I couldn't get the taller part to reach the floor of the cargo area. The distance from the bottom of the bumper to the underside of the cargo area is more than 4-1/4". I must be missing something but I'm not sure what yet.

I have one on my 63 wagon. I'll get under it and take a picture if you would like. It looks like the one you have posted.

I went out and snapped a few pictures of the wagon hitch. I don't beleive the one you have is for a wagon. The one that is mounted on mine wagon is different. In your first picture, what I will refer to as the "S" bend is way to short. The shaft on my hitch is about 3 times longer. Take a look...

These are not the greates pictures as it was quite dark in the garage. If you want others just let me know.

Thanks for the pictures. Yours looks like mine SHOULD look. I got it off Ebay awhile back and it was advertised for a "coupe/sedan and wagon" . Well I can rule out the wagon application. I'll have to start looking for one again

I can't see towing much with that kind of set up:no:
What would the tow rating be on that set up?

Acoording to the factory it's rated to 2000lbs. I wanted to tow a pop-up tent trailor or a trailor with my motorcycles on it.

contact Dale at NovaRUs. He has 3-4 wagons that he is selling parts off of. He might have a hitch for you. His number is 253-509-0153. He is also a member on here and his name is blue66deucex2.

Yeah Dale's scored some parts from me before and we've haggled some trades before. I sent him an Email, maybe he'll have one.
Thanks

Maybe the hitch you have was on a wagon with a third row seat well.
It would be lower, but since I don't have one I cant help with a picture, anyone else?

i dont see either of those hitches working on a 3rd seat wagon.......

the well for the 3rd seat is as low as the rear bumper.....

I'm thinking of trying to make the hitch I have work by adding a cross brace between the two sub frame rails kind of like a brace on a modern hitch. Does any one see a problem with this idea? I'll use the factory bolt locations to mount it to the bumper but I'll drop in a croos bar to bolt to the "4 1/4" rise part of the hitch.
