A big hello to everyone here. I haven't been on this site in almost a year. I feel like a dog with his tail between his legs showing up after so long. Love the new layout of the site. And a special thanks to all the posts over the years that helped me build my car. I need your input on this one.

It is with great sadness that I post this. The day has finally come. I bought 'er when I was 18. She's been Three different colors and had three different motors in the thirteen years I've owned it. To make a long story short, I need to sell my Nova. It's been avoided for a long time now but has to be done. I need to come up with the money fairly soon so I'm gonna have to set it up for a quick sale.

MY QUESTION: I'm wondering if you guys can give me an idea of what you think I should try to get for it. I'm a bit out of the loop and have no idea what the market is. Any idea of what my "buy-it-now" or what my rock bottom lowest price should be. I'm putting all sentimental value aside. Probably gonna end up ebaying it, along with puting it on craig's list and advertise locally but I need to move it quickly. At this point, it's not about what it's worth to me, so what do you think it should be worth to a buyer?

Have no fear, I already have visions of building another Nova in the future. And I can't imagine building anything but another nova. And the good thing is, my wife supports the idea (she comes from a family of hotrodders). She really wants a first gen though. But that's another story.

here's as much info on it as i can currently think of.

When I got the car it had lots of SS parts, but I was sure it wasn't a real SS. I was young and dumb and replaced the "ugly" black trim with chrome. (I was young, it was before there was lots of internet info and didn't realize that i was really throwing out true SS parts. But the car had fenders off another nova and so many piece-meal parts that it doesn't matter if it really was or not. So I've just always considered it to not be. Kept the SS grille and added the SS side badges just for looks. But I would never claim it was a true SS or even a "clone" for that matter

She looks great in pictures and cruising but when you look close there are some flaws in the paint. This is the biggest downfall of the car in my opinion. There are a couple small spots where it was hit a little hard with the buffer and a few bubbles on the fenders. Isn't very noticeable until you get right up on it. I still get tons of compliments on the paint scheme anyways. To be a true show car, she needs need a 100 point paint job and before that she would probably need a little metal work. There is some filler in the fenders. Some spots that looking back, I wish I had just put all new quarter panels in. But I was building it to be driven, not a trailer queen. So I wasn't too worried. You however may want to adress this and paint it your own custom color anyways.

Current known mechanical problems with the car:
When i was moving it over in the garage last month, i noticed it leaking some fuel directly from the fuel pump. Easy fix. I already have a new fuel pump and will have it installed in the next week.
Small tranny fluid leak coming from around the chrome tranny dipstick. This just started after the new chrome stick was put in so I guess i will throw the old stock stick back in. It fits a little snugger. Noticed a few drips of oil but haven't yet figured out where it's coming from.
-I haven't finished making the rear speaker covers. I will include the material to finish or I can finnish before sale. Some of the tweed has bubbled slightly but I will try to fix this in the next week also. Just needs some glue injected and smoothed back out.

Let me have it guys. how much (or little) do you think I should I ask for. I don't want to give it away but I do need to get the most i can out of it, on such short notice.

Thanks again to everyone.

Where are you located? That car around here would bring way more than what your asking for it:yes: IMPO $15-$20 Grand would be a better guess. Good luck with the sale. If I had the money I'd be all over it:yes:

I don't know that much about the 70's Nova's, but I would think your car has to be worth over $ 10,000.

In the last year lots of changes have been made to this site. One of which was the addition of a "whats it worth" section to the classifieds.

I think that area would be a much better fit then the Ebay section for a thread such as this.

How about I do the favor and move it for you?

the car is in on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio. It's currently parked in my ex-stepfather's deceased mother's garage (haha)

WOW, thanks! thats super nice of you to say. Lots of blood sweat and tears went into it. When I build another one (hopefully sooner than later), it will look very much like this one. Same paint scheme, stance, etc. I really love the car. There's always those thing's you'd do differently though.

Thats awesome that you guys think that. I'm modest and I also consider myself an honest guy. I think there's too many small things that might keep it from fetching super high dollars. The paint for example, while is fine for cruising, would need to be re-done professionally to be a show stopper, and before hand would need more metal work. The interior has bubbles under the fabric in a few spots (but i hope to take care of that this week by injecting a little glue and smoothing the bubbles back out). I still have to make the Speaker covers for the rear sail panels.

BUT also, I'm the guy who built it so I guess I kinda still see all the little things I was going to eventually change, so it seems unfinished to me. The old "they're never REALLY done" syndrome.

If I had more time, i would have thought about parting it out. Or at least make sure the buyer didn't live near me. (mainly because i couldn't stand the thought of seeing some other guy cruising around in the car that i slaved over). But after thinking hard about it, i guess that stuff wouldn't bother me. If someone showed up and gave me $13 grand, i'd take it quickly and cry all the way to the bank. Put 3 of it away to get me started on the next project, and use the rest for what is intended.

That's about the ballpark I'd place your car in.

I am doing a 74 and have a 73 in the back of the house as a spare.

as you were writing that, I posted it in the for sale section here. Figured i'd rather try to sell to another dedicated nova fan, before throwing it on ebay.
