 What is the reason they have not for street use on the filter and package? Is there some sort of problem that can happen if you use them in your street car? I am going to start using them ( as long as there are no issues) In my rebuild I just completed. The car only gets driven on weekends and occasionally after work on nice nights. Let me know what you guys may know! Thanks!!!!!:)

A reputable engine builder near me recommends them but strongly recommends they be replaced every 500 miles.
I use the NAPA equivelant street filter. I don't want to change mine that often.

I would imagine that the race filter doesn't have a bypass in it. It'll be interesting to hear if it does or not. Hint hint. :)

The way I see it is there are two types of filters they offer, race...and normal use (street, blah blah blah). I think you are refering to the race filter.

Race filters often are less micron filtration to allow flow rather than filtration. Race engines are often considered sacrificial, to be torn down after each race IE: nascar..... go with a high quality street filter, the engines have to last longer than a race engine.. there for the filter media is a higher micron filtration and better for you

That is pretty much what I thought might be the problem. I figured they would not be able to last as long as a street filter at 3000 miles! Thanks for the info!!!

The filter is designed to use no bypass and have 100% filtration of what is sent threw it.
They also have a very fine micron filter.
They are made of high quality thicker material.
triple seamed.
They are a VERY VERY bad choice for any street car.
The fact they do not have a bypass is not a issue with our loved SB & BB Chevrolet's, We have a external bypass in the filter adapter.
If the filter "Listed" should fail for any reason, WIX is not responsible "PERIOD"
The OEM, or Street Performance filters from WIX or NAPA is perfect and a high quality part.
NAPA 4069 is 1/2 quart (WIX 54069)
NAPA 4061 is Full quart (WIX 54061)
Take any WIX number and drop the first number and you have a NAPA part number.

Thanks Big Al!!! I knew you would chime in sooner or later!:D So the racing filter is bad choice for the street? I just broke in my cam and am changing the oil and I was going to use the racing filter for the next 500 miles and then change oil again. Is this a bad idea?

If your running a thin oil, lets say 30w or less then I see no problems. Cold thick oil can have a problem flowing.
500 miles is not a big deal. Just let it warm up a bit. Just like you would do durring a breakin.

I use a Napa 1061 Gold. It is the equivalent for the PF35.

I use the Wix 1061R and change the oil and filter every 50 passes.
