Ok heres the deal, right now i have a stock radiatory and external trans cooler for the car, i run at around 180 degrees, but when i stop it heats up to about 190 and when i turn the car off after running it hard it likes to shoot up to about 200 before starting to cool down. The car has a manual water pump and a belt run fan. Im thinking of going with an alumitech aluminum radiator and trans cooler with twin electric fans, and a moroso electric water pump, ive never had to do this before. What can i expect? is this a pain in the butt conversion, also im kinda curious about how to actually hook up the fans and water pump to the electrical on the car. Should they both go straight to the battery with a toggle inline on the hot and mount the toggle in the car like maybe in the ash tray, or should it be run somewhere else. I dont know whether the water pump should have to run after the car is shut down to help cool or just the fan, and with that said id like the fan to run until the car cools down to keep it from spiking like it is now to 200 when it is shut down. Do most electric fans come with a sensor that runs to the block to turn it on and off? I also saw a moroso electric water pump that had a remote, whats the deal with that lol. Would i just turn it off and on with the remote at my leisure.
Any advice would be helpfull, thanks guys

If my cooling system had run like that before I took it apart for improvements, I'd have been giddy with success.
Nothing that you're reporting sounds like a problem that'll do any damage or even raise an eyebrow amongst most folks. Anything under 200* is good news.
The only reason it heats up when you shut the car off is because there's no longer any movement in the water and the engine block heat wants to build in the now stagnant water. It's perfectly normal and 200 isn't anything to worry about.

Well thats good to hear, i hear alot about the fans like mine that are connected straight to a pulley, do they really rob as much hp as people say they do and is that a good way to get a couple of cheap horses is by going to electric fans?
The car is real sporty but i just need about 50 more horses i think, im on the verge of going with a blower but again i really dont know enough about it to just go out and buy a 4,000 dollar blower and it not work for me

The temps you are running at is great. You want the car to heat up to help get rid of condensation inside the motor. He!!, my 305 in my chevy truck runs at 210 degrees all the time, and thats normal.
May i ask why you need "50 more horsepower?" Are you racing? If not, then i wouldnt waste your money on the electric water pump and aluminum radiator. The electric fan may be a good investment because it should help extend the life of your water pump and keep better temps at a standstill.
Anyways, just my 2 cents.

With my previous 230 L6, I ran on the high side of 200 degrees constantly.
Most would love to have a car that runs as cool as yours.
Unless you are racing, I would not change anything.

The temp rise after the engine stops is a condition called "heat soak" its normal.... and the 200 mark is Very normal after a hard run...
you are well with in normal parameters.. I would not worry till the 220 mark in a cruiser/street car.

I feel a new siggy coming on. :D:D:D:D
An electric fan is about the only upgrade that I would recommend for the reasons people have already stated. If you're pinching pennies you don't need it, but if you're in the mood to play, by all means add one. :)

HAHAh now that's funny...

your temps sound good to me, if you mounted your trans cooler in front of yoour radiator, that would account for the slight rise in temp when you stop. i wouldnt change anything.

What you've got is working fine..
Now, If you're wanting to upgrade your cooling system in preparation of some future motor upgrades then I can justify the extra expense. A higher capacity radiator and electric fans will set right in place and work great now AND later.
As for the electric water pump....get ready for a bit of work. Most (if not all) of your accessory brackets will have to change. For a street car I would still stick with a belt driven pump. It doesn't eat a lot of power and is much more reliable. No worries of relays or electric motors dying and leaving you in a bad way!! If you're just stuck on the idea for the "Cool Factor" then be sure and get a GOOD pump that MOVES some water. 35 GPM or better. Meziere and CSI are the first couple that come to mind. I drew up an electrical diagram a while back if you're interested just PM me and I'll see if I can dig it up.
The one REAL justification I've seen for an all electric cooling system is on race cars that are getting "hot-lapped". I've set up a few cars with dual batteries and an isolator (like you'd find in a motor home) so the cooling system, bottle heaters, etc. could run between rounds while the engine was OFF to cool the car completely and maintain bottle pressure without the worry of killing the battery that starts the car for the next round..
Just my opinion..
Hope it helps..
