What should I expect to pay for a nice driver/occasional show quality paint job? Yeah, I know, it varies a lot and you get what you pay for and it varies by location. $1200? Anybody got a hook-up in the NW for a broke Nova dude? :D

I got mine painted at Maaco for $475. No one can tell the difference.

i can.
nothing personal...i believe that maaco covers a need in the marketplace for a customer that truly understands what they're paying for and what they're not.i eat, sleep, breath and dream automotive paint and i can assure you that i can "tell the difference".
just my 2 cents worth.

I have seen good and bad from Maaco. It all depends on how much drugs the painter is on at the time, or if they're nursing a hangover  or whathaveya. Problem I've found with Maaco is that their good painters leave as soon as they find better employment, so it's sort of the testing ground for newbies (good and bad).

I haven't found a 'chain' shop that I trust. I've had the best luck in the past with a family friend that did his own paint in his own backyard shop. He took his time, really cared about your car, and you got your car back in a month or two depending on his workload. $800 later and you had an awesome paint job. UNFORTUNATELY this gentleman has passed away
